I discovered an excellent app via these folks: Morningtide to Eventide. It is a Bible Study app with quotes from the early church fathers. Catena Bible & Commentaries. You can choose either the King James Version or the English Standard Version. When you double click on a verse, it shows a quote by an early church father.
If you click on the name, in this case Theophilus, it likes to an article about who he was and when he lived.
For those who aren’t Christian history nerds, any date before 1054 predates the Great Schism (the split between the Orthodox and the Catholics). Prior to then, there was only one branch of Christianity.
